Choiseul Bay Airport guide

Choiseul Bay Airport (IATA: CHY, ICAO: AGGC) serves Choiseul Province in the north-west of the Solomon Islands. The airstrip runs the length of Taro Island, a small island at the western edge of Choiseul Bay, bordering the north-western tip of Choiseul Island. Taro is the provincial capital.

British Army engineers built the airstrip in 1973 to serve north-west Choiseul Island. It is a public airport.

Solomon Airlines is the scheduled carrier, flying a DHC-6 Twin Otter. Its destinations are Gizo, served through Nusatupe Airport, and Honiara, served through Honiara International Airport. Flights were suspended from 28 August to 22 October 2023 while the airfield was upgraded. The project, funded by the Solomon Islands government with New Zealand and Australia, planned to seal the airstrip and install ground lighting so that Solomon Airlines' larger Dash 8 could land more reliably and safely. Published sources give no passenger or movement counts and no named operator, and schedules change, so confirm flights with the airline before you travel.
