Tancredo Neves International Airport guide

Tancredo Neves International Airport serves Belo Horizonte from the town of Confins, roughly 40 kilometres north of the city centre. Infraero built the airport, which opened in 1984; it was renamed in 1986 after Tancredo de Almeida Neves, Brazil's president-elect who died before taking office. BH Airport S.A. has run the concession since 2014.

A single 3,600-metre runway handles nearly all traffic in the region since Belo Horizonte transferred most services from the older, in-town Pampulha Airport in 2005. Terminal capacity now reaches 32 million passengers a year, with a dedicated international terminal added in 2021 for check-in, baggage, and passport control on overseas departures.

Azul Linhas Aéreas operates its second-largest connection hub here, running both domestic and international routes. Gol, LATAM Brasil, TAP Air Portugal, Copa Airlines, SKY Airline, and American Airlines add scheduled international service to destinations including Lisbon, Panama City, Santiago, and Miami. The airport ranks among the most punctual in the world, with an on-time performance rate above 83%.
