Wiluna Airport guide

Wiluna Airport serves the town of Wiluna, a remote community on the edge of the Western Australian desert in the Mid West region. The airfield lies about 4.6 km south of the town, and the Shire of Wiluna operates it as a public airport. It was already in use in the 1930s.

The airport has two runways. Runway 15/33 is sealed and measures 1,811 m by 30 m, with turning nodes at each end. Runway 03/21 is an unsealed earth strip of 1,219 m. The field sits 503 m above sea level and has landing lights and a small terminal building.

Skippers Aviation flies the passenger service, with charter flights linking Wiluna to Meekatharra, Mount Magnet and Perth. Perth is roughly 450 miles away, so the airport gives the town its main air link to the state capital.

The Shire has put out a tender for pavement repairs to the runway, apron and taxiways, and its runway and apron sealing and repair project appears on the federal Remote Airstrip Upgrade Program's round 11 approved list.
