Esperance Airport guide

Esperance Airport serves the south coast of Western Australia. It sits about 23 km north of the town, on the Coolgardie-Esperance Highway. The Shire of Esperance owns and runs it, and has done so since taking over the aerodrome from the Department of Civil Aviation in 1962.

Regional Express (Rex) flies daily between Esperance and Perth. The Shire's figures put regular passenger traffic at about 55,000 passengers a year. The airport also sees about 250 Royal Flying Doctor Service flights a year, plus charter and helicopter operators including Legendaire, Corsaire, Fly Esperance, Goldfields Air Services and Helispirit.

The main runway, 11/29, is sealed, 1,800 m long and 30 m wide, with an asphalt overlay laid in 2009. A second runway, 03/21, has a gravel surface. The Shire is redesigning the main runway for an upgrade, with the earliest construction in October 2028. All parking, short and long term, is free. Avis and Budget rent cars at the airport.
