Karara Airport guide

Karara Airport is a private airstrip serving the Karara iron ore mine in the Shire of Perenjori, in Western Australia's Mid West region. It carries the IATA code KQR and the ICAO code YKAR. The mine lies about 215 km east-southeast of Geraldton and 320 km north-northeast of Perth.

Karara Mining Limited operates the aerodrome, which is certified by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority. Use is restricted and needs prior permission from the operator. The strip handles fly-in fly-out services for mine workers, and the public cannot book flights here.

The airfield has one sealed asphalt runway, 12/30, about 1,400 m long and 30 m wide. Field elevation is roughly 1,000 ft. Travellers without mine access should use Geraldton or Perth airports instead.
