East Kimberley Regional Airport, known locally as Kununurra Airport, is the air gateway to the far north-east of Western Australia. It sits on the Victoria Highway, a few kilometres west of Kununurra town, and the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley owns it. The Shire certifies it as an aerodrome and runs it as a security-controlled airport.

Virgin Australia flies the Perth route with Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Airnorth links Kununurra with Broome and Darwin, and Aviair serves Balgo, Halls Creek and Kalumburu. Passenger traffic peaked at 91,992 in 2012-13, and the airport handled 77,072 passengers in 2018-19. Heavy wet seasons often cut the region off by road, which makes the airport a key link for people and freight.

A terminal expansion worth about A$8.7 million opened in 2012. It added an arrivals hall with a baggage carousel, a larger check-in area and an enlarged departure lounge. The terminal has a cafe, and hire car desks open around scheduled passenger flights. A single sealed runway, 12/30, is 1,829 m long. Runway works funded by the State and Commonwealth governments and the Shire extend it, so the Perth jet can carry a full load of 176 passengers. Temperature and runway length currently cap that service at 146 passengers in the wet season and 158 in the dry season. Charter operators run scenic Kimberley flights from the field.
