Gruyere Airport guide

Gruyere Airport (IATA GYZ, ICAO YGRM) is a private airport serving the Gruyere gold mine in the Goldfields region of Western Australia, about 200 kilometres east of Laverton. The mine is reached from Laverton along the Great Central Road.

The airstrip was built next to the mine's accommodation village, which has 300 permanent and 300 temporary rooms. It has a single asphalt runway, 06/24, 2,100 metres long, together with a terminal and a fuel facility sized for aircraft of up to 100 seats.

Virgin Australia operates charter flights between the airport and Perth. The aerodrome operator is Gruyere Management Pty Ltd, and the Airservices Australia aerodrome entry requires prior permission from the operator before an aircraft uses the airstrip. The mine is owned in equal shares by Gold Road Resources and Gold Fields. Blasting takes place daily at the site, so aircraft are asked to avoid flying over the mine pit.
