Aeroparque Jorge Newbery Guide
Jorge Newbery Airfield sits on the western bank of the Río de la Plata in the Palermo neighbourhood, just 2 km from Buenos Aires' city centre. That proximity makes it the preferred airport for most domestic travellers — the central business district is roughly a 15-minute taxi ride away, compared to the 45-minute drive from Ezeiza International. The airport covers 138 hectares of land reclaimed from the river in 1916 and has a single concrete runway of 2,700 metres.
The airport handles primarily domestic routes and a small number of regional international services, chiefly to Uruguay. Aerolíneas Argentinas operates the bulk of domestic traffic. JetSMART and Flybondi have added significant capacity on domestic routes, while Avianca resumed Bogotá services in late 2024 and SKY connects Lima and Santiago. In 2024, Aeroparque recorded approximately 14.9 million passengers, ranking it as Argentina's busiest airport by volume. Routes Americas 2025 named it the best airport in the Americas in the 4–20 million passenger category.
The terminal building has two levels — arrivals and check-in on the ground floor, departures on the upper level — organised into gate sectors A, B, and C. Terminals III and IV, inaugurated in March 2014, more than doubled the facility's capacity. The airport has no scheduled long-haul international services; passengers requiring intercontinental connections use Ministro Pistarini International Airport (Ezeiza), about 35 km to the southwest.
