Tirana International Airport Mother Teresa Guide

Tirana International Airport Nënë Tereza (ICAO: LATI) sits 11 km northwest of central Tirana in Rinas, within Durrës County. Named after the Albanian-born missionary Mother Teresa, it is Albania's only international airport and the busiest in the Western Balkans, surpassing Belgrade in 2024 after handling over 10 million passengers — a 225% increase from 3.3 million in 2019.

The airport operates a single runway (17/35, 3,000 m) and one passenger terminal, completed in 2007 and designed by Malaysian architect Hin Tan. The terminal's footprint has tripled since Kastrati Group acquired the airport in December 2020. Over 35 airlines connect Tirana to more than 110 destinations across Europe and the Middle East, with Wizz Air holding a 54% market share. A separate private terminal opened in 2022 for VIP passengers.

Kastrati Group, an Albanian company, owns and operates the airport through its aviation subsidiary, Kastrati Aviation Holding. A planned electrified rail link to Tirana city centre was scheduled for completion in early 2027.
