Cape Girardeau Regional Airport Guide
Cape Girardeau Regional Airport is a city-owned public airport in Scott County, Missouri, about 9 km southwest of Cape Girardeau's central business district. It began in the 1940s as an Army Air Forces training field, and the City of Cape Girardeau took it over in 1946-1947.
Two runways serve the field. Runway 10/28 is concrete and measures 6,500 by 150 feet. Runway 2/20 is 3,997 by 100 feet. About 91 percent of traffic is general aviation, and the FAA counted 29,106 aircraft operations in the 12 months ending September 2018. A fixed-base operator, Cape Aviation, has been under city control since 2001.
Scheduled service is flown by Contour Airlines under the federal Essential Air Service program. It links the airport with Chicago O'Hare and Dallas/Fort Worth, and adds seasonal flights to Pensacola. Contour has interline agreements with American, United, Alaska and JetBlue. A new passenger terminal, planned at 20,100 square feet to replace the old 13,100 square foot building, opened in August 2024.
