St. Louis Lambert International Airport Guide
St. Louis Lambert International Airport sits 22 km northwest of downtown St. Louis in St. Louis County, Missouri. It is the largest and busiest airport in the state, serving 15.9 million passengers in 2024 — the highest total in over 20 years. The airport operates more than 270 daily departures to over 80 nonstop domestic and international destinations.
The airport is owned and operated as an Enterprise Fund Department of the City of St. Louis, funded entirely by airport user charges. It has four active runways and two terminals located roughly half a mile apart, connected by a free shuttle service. MetroLink light rail links both terminals directly to downtown St. Louis and the broader metro area.
Lambert was formally established in 1928 and features a Terminal 1 building designed by Minoru Yamasaki, completed in 1956, with its distinctive three-domed roof. International service includes nonstop flights to Europe, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
