Begishevo Airport guide

Begishevo Airport sits in the east of Tatarstan, Russia, about 19 km east of Nizhnekamsk. It also serves Naberezhnye Chelny and Yelabuga, two industrial cities in the Kama river area.

Construction began in 1970 on the initiative of the Nizhnekamskneftekhim petrochemical complex. A first technical flight on an An-24 landed on 25 December 1971, and regular flights within Tatarstan started in 1972. The airport gained international status in 1998 and became an independent company in 2008, when it separated from Tatarstan Airlines.

The airfield has one asphalt runway, 04/22, about 2,490 m long, with a large apron and several hangars. Most scheduled traffic runs to Moscow-Sheremetyevo, with further links to Saint Petersburg, Sochi and other Russian cities. Passenger numbers reached 777,263 in 2018.
