Krasnoyarsk International Airport guide

Krasnoyarsk International Airport sits 27 km northwest of the city of Krasnoyarsk, on the right bank of the Yenisei River in central Siberia. Commercial flights began from the current site in 1980, replacing an older airfield closer to town; construction of the runway and apron had started a decade earlier. In 2019 the airport was formally given the honorific name of opera baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky, a Krasnoyarsk native, under Russia's nationwide airport-naming programme.

The single runway, a 3,700-metre reinforced-concrete strip rated ICAO code 4F, takes wide-body aircraft and supports up to 24 operations an hour. Aeroflot, Rossiya, S7 Airlines, Ural Airlines, NordStar and regional carrier KrasAvia account for most scheduled traffic, split between domestic routes across Siberia and a smaller set of international services. In 2024 the airport handled roughly 4.3 million passengers on about 17,000 aircraft movements.

Krasnoyarsk's position midway along the Trans-Siberian rail corridor and on great-circle routes between Europe and East Asia gives it a secondary role as a cargo and refuelling stop. The 1980 terminal building, once the sole passenger facility, was converted into a business aviation terminal after the current main terminal opened in December 2017.
