Cheboksary Airport guide

Cheboksary Airport sits near the village of Sinyaly, about 7 km southeast of the centre of Cheboksary, the capital of Chuvashia. It has one asphalt runway, 06/24, which is 2,512 m long and 49 m wide. The airport carries the name of cosmonaut Andriyan Nikolayev, a Chuvash native.

The operator is OOO Mezhdunarodny Aeroport Cheboksary, part of the Aerofuels group, and the site is owned by the Chuvash Republic through a state enterprise. Pobeda carries most of the traffic, with Boeing 737-800 flights to Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Sochi. Aeroflot, Azimut and S7 Airlines add services to Moscow, Mineralnye Vody, Surgut and Novosibirsk, plus seasonal routes.

The terminal building dates from 1963. A rebuilt departures terminal opened in December 2024 and grew the building from 3,500 to 5,500 square metres, with hourly capacity doubling from 100 to 200 passengers. It has automated baggage acceptance, a cafe, a VIP lounge and luggage storage. Work on the arrivals hall, including a baggage carousel, is still to come, and the airport stayed open during construction.
