Pantelleria Airport guide

Pantelleria Airport sits on the volcanic island of Pantelleria, in the Strait of Sicily between Sicily and Tunisia. The town of Pantelleria lies about 5 km away. The airport was a military field until 2016, when it became a civilian, state-owned facility. An Air Force detachment still operates from the site, and the underground Nervi hangar, 340 metres long, dates from 1939.

Two asphalt runways serve the island: 07/25, at 1,675 metres, and 03/21, at 1,220 metres. GAP S.p.A. manages the airport. Traffic passed 200,000 passengers in 2024. The terminal is designed for 300,000 passengers a year, with peaks of about 2,600 a day in summer.

The island has no road or rail link to the mainland, so the airport is its main year-round connection. DAT operates the subsidised territorial-continuity flights to Catania, Palermo and Trapani, in service since July 2018. Seasonal routes add Rome, Milan Linate, Bologna, Bergamo, Venice, Verona and Perugia.
