Falcone–Borsellino Airport sits on the Punta Raisi headland on Sicily's northern coast, about 35 kilometres from central Palermo along the A29 motorway. Named after anti-mafia magistrates Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino, murdered in 1992, it opened as Punta Raisi Airport in 1960 with an inaugural flight from Rome Ciampino. GES.A.P. S.p.A., majority owned by the City and Metropolitan City of Palermo, has managed operations under a long-term concession since 2007.

The airport is Sicily's second-busiest after Catania, ranking ninth nationally by passenger volume. It carried a record 9.2 million passengers in 2025, up 3.4% on the previous year, across roughly 65,000 aircraft movements. Ryanair holds the largest share of traffic and operates a base here, alongside base carriers ITA Airways, easyJet and Wizz Air; routes reach over 90 destinations in more than twenty countries.

Two runways handle traffic: a 3,326-metre main runway and a shorter 2,074-metre secondary strip, both surfaced in bitumen. A single passenger terminal, redeveloped in 2018, separates Schengen and non-Schengen arrivals across three floors, with five airbridge-served gates plus additional bus and walk-boarding stands.
