Nanded Airport Guide
Nanded Airport sits just north of Nanded city in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra. Its official name is Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Airport, after the tenth Sikh Guru. The ICAO code is VAND. The city is home to Takhat Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib, one of the five Sikh thrones, so the airport serves many pilgrims.
The Public Works Department built the airfield in 1958. The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation took over its development in April 2000. The runway was extended from 1,375 metres to 2,300 metres and widened to 45 metres, and the airport was inaugurated as a modern facility on 4 October 2008. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation issued a permanent aerodrome licence in October 2010.
The single runway, 10/28, handles turboprops and narrow-body jets. The terminal can process about 300 passengers at peak hours and has six check-in counters, departure and arrival lounges, VIP lounges and a cafeteria. Star Air resumed scheduled flights on 31 March 2024 and links Nanded with Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad and other Indian cities. In the 2025-26 financial year the airport handled about 147,000 passengers and 2,847 aircraft movements.
