Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMI) opened for commercial operations on 25 December 2025, making it one of India's newest greenfield airports. Located in the Ulwe suburb of Raigad district, it sits approximately 34 km from central Mumbai and around 7 km from Panvel Railway Station. The airport spans 1,160 hectares and was built by Larsen & Toubro under a Public Private Partnership framework.

The terminal features a lotus-inspired design and was built to handle 20 million passengers annually in its first phase, with capacity planned to grow to 90 million across three interconnected terminals. Initial services launched with IndiGo, Air India Express, Akasa Air, and Star Air connecting the airport to 13 domestic destinations including Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Goa.

The airport is operated by Navi Mumbai International Airport Limited (NMIAL), a joint venture in which Adani Airport Holdings holds 74% equity and CIDCO holds 26%. It serves as a second commercial airport for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, relieving pressure on the existing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport located around 35 km to the northwest.
