Murod Kond Airport Guide
Murod Kond Airport, also called Latur Airport, sits near Chincholiraowadi in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra. It lies about 12 kilometres west of Latur city at an elevation of 630 metres. The airfield has one asphalt runway, 05/23, which measures 2,300 metres by 30 metres. PAPI lights and an aerodrome beacon support approaches.
The Public Works Department built the airfield in 1991 and handed it to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation in April 2000. An upgrade between 2006 and 2008 lengthened the runway and added a terminal and a car park. Reliance Airport Developers, part of Reliance Infrastructure, operates the site under a lease. It runs Nanded, Baramati, Osmanabad and Yavatmal airfields in the same way.
The apron measures 100 by 70 metres and holds one ATR aircraft and one business jet at a time. The terminal handles about 60 passengers in a peak hour. Kingfisher Airlines started Mumbai service via Nanded in October 2008, and it later became seasonal and ended. No scheduled airline service is confirmed at present, so general and charter aviation use the airport.
