Jalgaon Airport guide

Jalgaon Airport stands at Kusumbe, about 9 km south-east of Jalgaon city centre in northern Maharashtra, off National Highway 753F. The ICAO code is VAJL. It is the nearest airport to the Ajanta Caves, which lie 47 km away. Jalgaon Junction railway station is about 9.5 km north of the airfield.

The Public Works Department built the airstrip in 1973. Jalgaon Municipal Council ran it from 1997, and the Maharashtra Airport Development Company took it over in 2007. A revamped airport opened on 23 March 2012. Scheduled flights began on 23 December 2017 under the UDAN regional connectivity scheme, when Air Deccan flew to Mumbai. TruJet followed in September 2019, and services stopped during COVID-19. Fly91 resumed flights on 18 April 2024 and Alliance Air began flying in June 2024.

The single asphalt runway, 09/27, is 1,700 metres long. The apron measures 68 by 67 metres and parks two ATR 72 aircraft. The terminal covers about 700 square metres and handles up to 120 passengers at peak times, without aerobridges. Fly91 serves Goa, Hyderabad, Navi Mumbai and Pune, and Alliance Air serves Ahmedabad and Mumbai. Between April 2025 and March 2026 the airport handled 143,943 passengers, up 55.7 percent.
