Carcassonne Salvaza Airport guide

Carcassonne Salvaza Airport lies in the Aude department of Occitanie, about 3 km west of the walled city of Carcassonne. It is also marketed as Aéroport Carcassonne Occitanie Sud de France and serves the southern Languedoc.

The airport is owned by the Occitanie region, which took it over from the French State in 2007. Since 1 January 2020 it has been managed by SPLAR, a regional public company that also runs Perpignan and Tarbes airports. The region holds 62% of its capital.

Traffic is almost entirely low-cost. Ryanair, the only scheduled carrier, has flown here since 1998 and runs seasonal routes to Brussels Charleroi, Cork, Dublin, East Midlands, London Stansted, Manchester, Porto, Cagliari and Tangier. The airport recorded 304,454 passengers and 27,050 aircraft movements in 2025. Runway 09/27 is paved and 2,050 m long, and a shorter 800 m grass strip runs beside it. A pier built from 2021 lets four aircraft park at once. An École nationale de l'aviation civile campus is on the airport site.
