La Rochelle – Île de Ré Airport lies just north of La Rochelle, a few minutes from the city centre and the road to the Île de Ré bridge. Its ICAO code is LFBH. A single asphalt runway, 09/27, measures 2,255 m. The airport handled 303,669 passengers in 2025, its third consecutive annual record, across 12 routes.
Traffic is mostly seasonal and aimed at leisure travel. Year-round services run to Lyon, Marrakech and Marseille. From spring to autumn, flights add destinations in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium, Switzerland, Portugal and Nice. British and Irish visitors make up much of the summer demand.
The current terminal was expanded and modernised in 2015 and 2016 and opened on 7 July 2016. The arrivals hall was extended around 2020 to handle customs checks after Brexit. A larger departure lounge opened on 23 March 2022 and separates domestic, Schengen and non-Schengen passengers. A new rescue and firefighting station entered service in October 2022.
Since 1 January 2019 a joint syndicate has run the airport together with Rochefort Charente-Maritime Airport. The chamber of commerce operated it before that date.
