Biarritz Pays Basque airport Guide
Biarritz Pays Basque Airport (ICAO LFBZ) is the main airport of the French Basque Country. It sits 75 m above sea level on the coast of the Bay of Biscay, mostly within the commune of Anglet, with a smaller part in Biarritz. It opened to traffic in 1954.
The airport handled 935,404 passengers in 2025, up 1.9% on 2024 and still below the 2019 total of 1,066,204. It has one paved runway, 09/27, measuring 2,250 m by 45 m. Air France and Volotea run year-round services to Paris. Ryanair, Transavia and easyJet add seasonal and low-cost routes to other French and European cities.
A public body, a syndicat mixte, owns the airport and runs it directly rather than through a private concession. Its members are the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department, the Pays Basque urban community and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. Weekday opening hours run from 04:30 to 22:00, and weekend hours follow the scheduled commercial flights. A business aviation area with direct apron access sits beside the passenger building.
