Le Puy-Loudes Airfield Guide
Le Puy-Loudes Airfield sits on the Devès plateau at an elevation of 832 m, on the communes of Loudes and Chaspuzac in the Haute-Loire département. The site was developed in the 1930s, and a public-interest order for it was issued in 1935. The local aero club moved to Loudes in 1937.
The airfield has a 1,393 m asphalt runway, 15/33, and a shorter grass strip alongside it. Its only scheduled service is a route to Paris-Orly, flown by Twin Jet with Beechcraft 1900D turboprops under a public service delegation. The route was suspended in April 2024 and resumed on 2 September 2024. The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region subsidises it.
Passenger numbers are small. Traffic peaked at 8,704 in 2000 and fell to 2,538 in 2024. The terminal covers 143 m² and is sized for 30,000 passengers a year. The apron covers 12,000 m², and there are 80 free parking spaces. The air traffic service is an AFIS that works on weekdays only. The nearest railway station is Darsac, about 8 km away. Lyon-Saint-Exupéry, 161 km to the northeast, is the nearest major international airport.
