The airport is operated by Aéroports de Lyon under a VINCI Airports–Caisse des dépôts consortium.

A direct TGV high-speed rail connection — in place since 1994 — links the airport to Paris and Marseille without entering Lyon itself. The Rhônexpress tram reaches Lyon Part-Dieu station in 30 minutes, making city access faster than at most comparable regional airports.

Around 50 airlines serve more than 140 destinations from two passenger terminals, with Air France as the dominant carrier and a strong low-cost presence from easyJet, Ryanair, and Transavia France.
