Ezeiza International Airport - Ministro Pistarini Guide
Ministro Pistarini International Airport, universally known as Ezeiza after the district that surrounds it, opened on 30 April 1949 as the third-largest airport in the world at the time. Its official name honours Juan Pistarini, the public works minister who oversaw its construction under President Juan Perón, though the everyday name has stuck with travellers and locals alike.
The airport carries the large majority of Argentina's scheduled international air traffic and serves as the principal overseas hub for Aerolíneas Argentinas, a member of the SkyTeam alliance. Long-haul routes link Buenos Aires to North America, Europe and other South American capitals, alongside a network of domestic services reaching cities across the country.
Owned by the Argentine state but run under a long-term concession, the airport is operated by Aeropuertos Argentina (formerly Aeropuertos Argentina 2000), part of Corporación América Airports, which took over management in 1998 during the privatisation of the national airport system. A single departures building opened in 2023, consolidating check-in, security and immigration for both international and domestic flights ahead of separate arrivals halls. In 2024 the airport carried just over 11 million passengers, making it Argentina's second-busiest airport after Aeroparque Jorge Newbery.
