Canouan Airport guide

Canouan Airport (ICAO: TVSC) sits on the southwestern end of Canouan, the largest island in the Grenadines chain after Saint Vincent itself. It is also known as Canouan Jet Port, and it is the island's only airport.

The current airport opened on 11 May 2008, replacing an earlier airstrip that dated from the early 1980s and was paved in 1987 and 1988. The EC$58 million project was a joint venture between the government and the island's resort developer. It lengthened the runway from 2,300 feet to about 5,900 feet, enough for business jets and mid-size turboprops, and added airfield lighting and an expanded terminal building and control tower.

The single asphalt runway is designated 13/31. Only runway 13 has PAPI approach lights, and runway 31 is for visual flight rules only. The terminal has check-in, a few shops, a restaurant and a covered observation deck. It has immigration facilities for international arrivals but no international transfer area.

Traffic is mostly short inter-island flights within Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, plus private and charter jets bringing guests to the island's resorts. Scheduled and charter links run to Argyle International Airport on Saint Vincent, and on to Bequia, Mustique and Union Island.
