West Virginia International Yeager Airport sits on a hilltop more than 300 feet above the Elk and Kanawha river valleys, about 3 miles east of downtown Charleston. The ground drops sharply on all sides, so an Engineered Materials Arresting System at the end of Runway 5 stands in for a full-length runway safety area. The airport also serves Huntington and the rest of southern West Virginia, near the junction of three interstates.

It opened in 1947 as Kanawha Airport. In 1985 it was renamed for Charleston-area native and test pilot General Chuck Yeager, and in 2021 it took its current name. The Central West Virginia Regional Airport Authority runs it. The airport has one active runway, 5/23, which is 6,715 feet long and 150 feet wide. A second runway, 15/33, is now a taxiway.

American, Delta, United and Breeze Airways fly scheduled service. Breeze began nonstop flights to Orlando in 2023. Air Cargo Carriers handles freight flights to Louisville.
