La Crosse Regional Airport sits on the northern part of French Island, beside the Mississippi River, about 9 km northwest of downtown La Crosse. The City of La Crosse owns it. The field was dedicated on March 1, 1947, as La Crosse Municipal Airport and took its current name in 2013.

Three runways serve the airport. Runway 18/36 is 8,742 feet long and the longest, followed by runway 13/31 at 6,050 feet and runway 4/22 at 5,199 feet. The two-story terminal opened in 1988 and has three gates. A $14 million remodel was completed in 2016.

Airline service is small. American Airlines flies to its hub in Chicago and Allegiant offers nonstop leisure flights to Florida and Arizona. United has announced Chicago service but has delayed its launch to at least October 2027. Delta left in 2023, which cut passenger numbers well below the 2019 level, when more than 95,000 people boarded flights. About 63 aircraft were based at the field in 2024.
