Tunis Carthage International Airport guide

Tunis Carthage International Airport serves Grand Tunis from a site about 8 kilometres northeast of the city centre. It has two asphalt runways, 01/19 at 3,200 metres and 11/29 at 2,840 metres, and it handled about 7.25 million passengers in 2024.

The Office of Civil Aviation and Airports (OACA) manages the airport. Tunisair, the national carrier, is based here, and its regional subsidiary Tunisair Express and the private carrier Nouvelair Tunisia also operate from Tunis. Terminal 1 is the main passenger terminal. Terminal 2 sits to the south and has been used mainly for charter flights.

The airport is a joint civil and military facility. Tunisia's Ministry of Transport has dropped plans for a replacement airport and instead plans to expand Tunis Carthage, including a new terminal for around 11 million passengers a year and renovation of the existing terminal. Taxis run around the clock between the terminal and the city centre, and bus routes connect the airport with other parts of the capital region. The ruins of ancient Carthage lie a short distance to the east.
