Chulman Airport guide

Chulman Neryungri Airport (ICAO UELL) serves the coal-mining city of Neryungri in southern Yakutia, in the Sakha Republic of Russia. It lies about 8 km north of the settlement of Chulman and roughly 40 km north of Neryungri, at 857 m elevation. The Federal State Enterprise Airports of the North operates it as a federal dual-use airport.

A gravel runway at Chulman was completed on 7 November 1962. The main runway was commissioned in 1986, and the airport was renamed Neryungri in 1987. In June 2025 it took the name of G. I. Chiryaev. The single concrete runway, 08/26, is 3,600 m long and 45 m wide and takes up to medium-sized airliners. The airfield is also an emergency and diversion site for cross-polar ETOPS routes.

A new passenger terminal of about 9,000 square metres opened on 23 December 2023. It replaced a cargo building that had been adapted for passengers and handles 300 passengers an hour. Scheduled flights link the airport with Yakutsk, Khabarovsk, Irkutsk, Novosibirsk, Vladivostok and Moscow. Traffic reached about 115,000 passengers in 2018.
