Guaraní International Airport sits in the municipality of Minga Guazú, 25 km west of downtown Ciudad del Este. Opened in August 1993, it replaced the older Alejo García Airport and serves Paraguay's second-largest city and the surrounding Triple Frontier region, where Paraguay, Brazil, and Argentina meet.

The airport handles limited scheduled passenger traffic, with Paranair operating domestic routes to Asunción. Its primary role is cargo: it functions as a major import hub for goods arriving from Asia and North America destined for Ciudad del Este's large free trade zone. Cargo carriers including Atlas Air, Avianca Cargo, LATAM Cargo Chile, and Western Global Airlines operate regular freighter services. In 2024 the airport processed 11,409 tonnes of cargo, a 30% increase year on year.

The airport is managed under Paraguay's civil aviation authority, DINAC. One runway (05/23) spans 3,400 metres on an asphalt surface, capable of accommodating wide-body freighters. Passenger volumes remain modest — 7,722 passengers were recorded in 2024 — reflecting the airport's specialisation in freight rather than commercial passenger services.
