Warsaw Chopin Airport is located in the Włochy district of Warsaw, about 10 km southwest of the city centre. It is Poland's largest and busiest airport, handling 21.3 million passengers in 2024 — approximately 36% of Poland's total air traffic. The airport is the primary hub for LOT Polish Airlines and a base for Wizz Air and Enter Air.
The airport opened in 1934 and has been progressively expanded over the decades. Its current single-terminal configuration, Terminal A, was formed in 2010 by merging the former Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 into a unified complex. The terminal spans two main halls divided into five check-in areas (A through E), with 116 check-in desks and 45 passenger gates, 27 of which have jetways.
Two intersecting runways serve the airport: the main runway (15/33) runs 3,690 metres and the secondary runway (11/29) runs 2,800 metres. In 2024, the airport announced an expansion programme targeting capacity above 30 million passengers annually, with construction scheduled to begin in late 2025 and complete by 2029.
