Auckland Airport sits 21 kilometres south of Auckland's city centre in the Māngere suburb, on a flat isthmus between the Manukau and Waitemata harbours. It is New Zealand's largest airport, handling 18.9 million passengers in 2025 — around 71% of the country's international air traffic.
The airport is the principal hub for Air New Zealand and the country's main gateway for long-haul routes. Emirates operates daily A380 services, and carriers including Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Korean Air, Qatar Airways, United Airlines, and Delta serve the international terminal. Jetstar, Air Chathams, and Barrier Air operate domestic routes.
Auckland International Airport Limited (AIAL) owns and operates the airport, which has one active runway (3,635 metres) capable of handling A380 aircraft. A major terminal integration project is underway to consolidate domestic and international operations, with a new domestic jet terminal planned to open in the late 2020s.
