Chetumal International Airport guide

Chetumal International Airport serves the capital of Quintana Roo, close to the Belize border in the south of the Yucatán Peninsula. It sits about 2 kilometres from the city centre and joined the national Aeropuertos y Servicios Auxiliares network in 1974.

The airfield has one asphalt runway, 10/28, at 2,208 metres, long enough for Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 aircraft. The airport covers 230 hectares and has a commercial apron of 13,140 square metres with two aircraft positions, plus parking for 102 vehicles. A Mexican Navy air base occupies the eastern end of the grounds, and a Tren Maya station is under construction on the airport land.

All scheduled flights are domestic, and nearly all go to Mexico City, either to Benito Juárez International or to Felipe Ángeles International. Passenger numbers have more than doubled since 2014, when about 156,000 passengers used the airport. Control passed from ASA to the military-owned Grupo Olmeca-Maya-Mexica group, which now runs it. The airport operates between 7:00 and 19:00.
