Felipe Ángeles International Airport occupies the former Santa Lucía military air base in Zumpango, State of México, about 35 km north of downtown Mexico City. Named for Felipe Ángeles, a general of the Mexican Revolution, it opened on March 21, 2022, as a federal project meant to relieve congestion at Mexico City International Airport. The Secretariat of National Defense built the airport and continues to operate it through the state-owned company Aeropuerto Internacional Felipe Ángeles, S.A. de C.V.

Passenger traffic reached about 7.1 million in 2025, making it Mexico's seventh-busiest airport, though international travelers made up only around 5.5% of that total. Mexicana de Aviación operates the largest share of its domestic routes, alongside Aeroméxico, Viva and Volaris, while Conviasa and Arajet fly its international services. A dedicated rail line, the Tren Felipe Ángeles, opened in 2026 to connect the terminal toward Buenavista station in central Mexico City.

Two of the airport's three runways carry civil traffic, each 4,500 meters long; the third is reserved for military use. The single terminal building has drawn architectural recognition, including a Prix Versailles citation, and access roads link it to the México–Pachuca highway and the Circuito Exterior Mexiquense.
