It is the second busiest airport in Morocco after Casablanca Mohammed V, handling 9.3 million passengers in 2024 — a 34% increase over 2023. The single 3,100-metre runway is equipped with a Category II ILS system, allowing operations in low-visibility conditions.
The airport operates under two active passenger terminals within one interconnected building, with a third terminal added in 2016. Over 30 airlines serve the airport, with particularly dense European connections to London, Paris, Madrid, and Amsterdam. Royal Air Maroc operates domestic links to Casablanca, while low-cost carriers Ryanair, easyJet, Transavia, and Vueling account for a large share of international traffic.
The facility is owned by the Royal Moroccan Air Force and operated by Airports of Morocco (formerly ONDA). Expansion plans target a capacity of 16 million passengers by 2028, reflecting Marrakesh's growth as a tourist destination and conference city.
