Roberts International Airport sits near Harbel in Margibi County, about 60 km southeast of central Monrovia. It is Liberia's only international airport and the country's principal aviation hub. The airport is named after Joseph Jenkins Roberts, Liberia's first president.

The airport was originally constructed by the United States military during World War II and later became a key Pan American World Airways hub in West Africa. A $50 million terminal expansion, funded largely by China Exim Bank and the Saudi Fund for Development, opened in late 2017. The new two-level terminal covers 5,000 m² and added two jetway bridges and modern baggage handling.

Current scheduled service connects Monrovia to Accra, Addis Ababa, Brussels, Casablanca, and Freetown, among other West African cities. The airport has a single 3,353-metre asphalt runway and a recently expanded apron covering 85,000 m².
