Iskandar Airport guide

Iskandar Airport serves Pangkalan Bun, the capital of West Kotawaringin Regency in Central Kalimantan. It lies about 5 km from the town centre and is the main air gateway for the southwestern part of the province, including the route towards Tanjung Puting National Park. The ICAO code is WAGI.

The Dutch colonial government built the airfield before World War II. Part of it was opened to civilian use in 1970. The Indonesian Air Force still owns the site, and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation runs the civil side as a shared enclave. The airport is named after Iskandar, an Air Force officer and guerrilla fighter from Central Kalimantan who died in 1947 during the Indonesian National Revolution.

The single asphalt runway, designated 13/31, measures 2,120 metres by 45 metres. Plans exist to extend it to 2,500 metres. The passenger terminal covers about 3,500 square metres and a separate 516 square metre cargo terminal handles freight. The airport handled 472,637 passengers and 4,351 aircraft movements in 2024, up 31.4 per cent on passengers from the year before.

Scheduled flights run to Jakarta, Semarang and Surabaya with Batik Air and NAM Air, and Wings Air links the airport with Ketapang.
