Hang Nadim International Airport guide

Hang Nadim sits at Batu Besar in Nongsa, on the northeastern side of Batam island in the Riau Islands. Singapore Changi is about 30 km away across the strait. The airport was built partly to take aircraft diverted from Changi, which explains its scale.

The single asphalt runway, 04/22, is about 4,000 m long and 45 m wide. It is the longest runway in Indonesia and can take wide-body aircraft including the Boeing 777 and Airbus A380. The airport has operated around the clock since May 2014 and shares its site with the Hang Nadim Air Force Base.

The passenger terminal covers 30,000 m2 and has six gates and ten airbridges. A separate 1,685 m2 cargo terminal handles freight, and Batam Aero Technic runs aircraft maintenance on the site. Traffic peaked at 6.3 million passengers in 2017, fell to 2.2 million in 2021 and recovered to 4.2 million in 2024. Most flights link Batam with Jakarta and other Indonesian cities, with international services to Kuala Lumpur.
