Kombolcha Airport guide

Kombolcha Airport (IATA: DSE, ICAO: HADC) serves the towns of Kombolcha and Dessie in the South Wollo zone of Ethiopia's Amhara Region. The airport is owned by the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority and run by the Ethiopian Airports Enterprise. It sits in the highlands at an elevation of about 1,870 metres.

Construction of the current airport began in 2010. It replaced an older dirt-runway airfield in Kombolcha, which has since closed. The new airport has one asphalt runway, designated 17/35, that is about 2,000 metres long.

The airport handles domestic traffic only. Ethiopian Airlines flies the route to Addis Ababa, which is the main air link for travellers in this part of the Amhara Region. Kombolcha is the closest town, about 7 km by road to the south, while Dessie lies about 25 km away by road to the west. Travellers should confirm flight times with the airline before travelling, as the schedule is small.
