Düsseldorf Airport Guide
Düsseldorf Airport is the largest airport serving the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region, Germany's most populous conurbation. Located in the Lohausen district, about 7 km north of the city centre, it is the fourth-busiest airport in Germany and handled about 20 million passengers in 2024 across two runways, of 3,000 m and 2,700 m. The airport is operated by Flughafen Düsseldorf GmbH, owned equally by the City of Düsseldorf and Airport Partners GmbH.
Eurowings uses the airport as its primary hub. Terminal A is used mainly by Lufthansa, Eurowings and other Star Alliance carriers, Terminal B by SkyTeam and Oneworld carriers and leisure airlines for Schengen flights, and Terminal C handles non-Schengen and long-haul services from carriers including Emirates and Etihad Airways. Terminal C is the only terminal equipped for the Airbus A380.
The airport is connected to the German rail network by Düsseldorf Airport station, opened in May 2000, which links it to Cologne, Dortmund and the wider North Rhine-Westphalia network. Scheduled commercial flights began in 1927, making it one of the older continuously operating airports in Germany.
