Guangyuan Panlong Airport guide

Guangyuan Panlong Airport serves Guangyuan, in the north of Sichuan Province. It sits in Panlong Town, Lizhou District, about 14 km from the city centre. Its IATA code is GYS and its ICAO code is ZUGU.

Planning began in July 1992 and construction started in February 1994, with a total investment of 460 million yuan. The airport opened in September 2000, then closed at the end of 2004 after heavy losses. Severe damage from the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake kept it shut until it reopened on 8 May 2009, after about 48 million yuan of renovation and reconstruction, with Beijing as the first route after reopening.

The airport has one concrete runway, 08/26, measuring 2,500 m. It handled 595,464 passengers in 2025 and 195 tonnes of cargo. Scheduled routes link Guangyuan with Beijing, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Kunming, Lhasa and other Chinese cities, flown by carriers including Air China, Sichuan Airlines, Tibet Airlines and Spring Airlines.
