Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport sits in the Shuangliu district, about 16 kilometers southwest of downtown Chengdu, Sichuan province. It began civil aviation operations in 1956 on a site used since 1938, and was renamed an international airport in 1995. Two parallel runways, each 3,600 meters long, support commercial traffic.

The airport completed a major renovation in 2025. Terminal 1, first opened in 2001, reopened in February 2025 after a 17-month rebuild and now handles Sichuan Airlines and China Southern Airlines domestic flights. Terminal 2, opened in 2012, is the larger facility and hosts Air China, China Eastern, Tibet Airlines and other domestic carriers.

Since Chengdu Tianfu International Airport opened in October 2021, most international and long-haul routes have shifted there, leaving Shuangliu focused on domestic service, including premium business routes to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. In 2025 the airport handled over 33.5 million passengers and 222,551 aircraft movements. Sichuan Provincial Airport Group operates the airport.
