Dachuan Airport guide

Dazhou Heshi Airport sits in Heshi Town, about 12 km from central Dazhou in eastern Sichuan. Locally it is also known as Dachuan Airport, and earlier as Daxian Airport. Its IATA code is DAX and its ICAO code is ZUDX. Sichuan Airport Group operated it as a regional airport with a single concrete runway, 02/20, measuring 2,000 m by 45 m.

The airport handled 571,290 passengers in 2019 and 558,207 passengers with 8,305 aircraft movements in 2021. It closed to scheduled passenger flights on 18 May 2022. Its routes moved to Dazhou Jinya Airport (DZH), the new airport that now carries Dazhou's airline traffic. Anyone travelling to Dazhou by air should book to DZH, not DAX.

The Heshi site stayed in aviation use. It reopened in December 2023 as a general aviation airport and now supports a helicopter rescue base and a drone manufacturing and flight operations site. It is part of Dazhou's low-altitude economy plans, which centre on a general aviation industrial park at Heshi.
