Nanyang Jiangying Airport Guide

Nanyang Jiangying Airport serves the city of Nanyang in southwestern Henan province. It sits in Jiangying, Wancheng District, on a site that replaced the original Nanyang airfield. That field dated from 1934, was occupied by Japanese forces in the Second World War and later carried a few civil flights alongside military use.

The current airport opened in October 1992 at a cost of 77 million yuan, with a runway 1,800 metres long and 45 metres wide. A 1998 expansion costing 22.8 million yuan lengthened the runway to 2,300 metres. The runway is now listed at 2,800 metres by 50 metres, rated class 4D, and a further phase of expansion is under way. Scheduled passenger flights to Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing began in 2004.

In 2025 the airport handled 1,036,774 passengers, up 7.1 percent on the previous year, and 60,924 aircraft movements, up 16.9 percent. Cargo throughput was 758.6 tonnes. Services are domestic, linking Nanyang with cities in southern, eastern, northern and western China, and the airport lies 12 kilometres east of the city centre.
