Aupaluk Airport Guide
Aupaluk Airport (ICAO CYLA) serves the Inuit village of Aupaluk on the western shore of Ungava Bay in Nunavik, northern Quebec. The village has no road connection to the rest of the province, so the airport is its year-round link for passengers, mail, freight and medical travel. The airfield sits at an elevation of 37 m, about 400 m east of the village.
The single runway, 04/22, is gravel and measures 1,073 m (3,521 ft). The facility consists of a small terminal building, a garage-workshop and the runway. The Kativik Regional Government operates it under the network of northern Quebec airports administered by the Quebec government. Transport Canada recorded 1,149 aircraft movements here in 2010.
Air Inuit is the scheduled carrier and links Aupaluk with the neighbouring Nunavik communities of Kangirsuk and Tasiujaq and with Kuujjuaq, the regional hub about 150 km away. Connections to Montreal and the rest of Canada are made through Kuujjuaq.
