Mont Joli Airport guide

Mont-Joli Airport (IATA: YYY, ICAO: CYYY), also called Aéroport régional de Mont-Joli, lies about 3 km north-northwest of the town of Mont-Joli, on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River. It is the only airport with scheduled passenger service in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region. The airport site is at an elevation of 52 m.

The field began as RCAF Station Mont-Joli, finished in April 1942. It hosted No. 9 Bombing and Gunnery School and served as a coastal patrol base during the Battle of the St. Lawrence. The Department of Transport took it over on 15 December 1945 and opened it to civilian use. A regional intermunicipal authority has owned it since 1995.

There are two asphalt runways. Runway 06/24 is 1,829 m long, and runway 15/33 is 1,205 m long. The longer runway was extended back to 6,000 ft in 2017 so it could take the Boeing 737-800. The airport says about 60,000 passengers pass through each year. PAL Airlines and Pascan Aviation fly scheduled routes, and charter carriers have used the airport for seasonal sun destinations. Wikipedia records 5,798 aircraft movements in 2010.
