Waskaganish Airport (ICAO CYKQ) serves the Cree community of Waskaganish at the mouth of the Rupert River on the southeast shore of James Bay, in Nord-du-Québec. The airport sits at an elevation of 24 m (79 ft) and has one gravel runway, 06/24, measuring 1,070 m (3,511 ft) by 30 m (100 ft).
Transport Canada operates the airport and classifies it as a remote airport under the National Airports Policy. The Waskaganish Cree Nation handles daily maintenance. A single passenger terminal building has automatic doors, wheelchair service and an accessible washroom, and it opens daily from 8:00 to 17:00. Drones are prohibited around the airport unless Transport Canada has authorized the flight.
Air Creebec is the only scheduled carrier. It flies from Waskaganish to Chisasibi, Eastmain, Kuujjuarapik, Montréal-Trudeau, Val-d'Or and Wemindji. A gravel road linked the community to the James Bay Road in 2001, but before that the town could be reached only by air or boat, and the airport remains the main connection to the south for visitors.
