Dauphin Barker Airport guide

Dauphin Barker Airport (ICAO CYDN), officially Lt. Col W.G. (Billy) Barker VC Airport, sits about 3 miles (5 km) south of Dauphin in western Manitoba. It is named for William George Barker, a Dauphin resident and the top Canadian fighter ace of the First World War. The field stands at 999 ft (304 m) above sea level.

The site began as RCAF Station Dauphin during the Second World War, under the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. Today the Dauphin Regional Airport Authority Inc. runs it, with funding in part from the City of Dauphin and the Rural Municipality of Dauphin. There are three runways: asphalt 14/32 at 5,003 ft (1,525 m), asphalt 08/26 at 2,703 ft (824 m) and gravel 02/20 at 2,110 ft (643 m). Runway 14/32 has approach lighting and precision approach path indicators.

The airport handles private aircraft, air ambulance flights for the Parkland region and a seasonal base for water bombers, helicopters and spray planes. A self-serve 24-hour card-lock system sells 100LL and Jet A-1 fuel. The terminal has washrooms, a waiting area, Wi-Fi and coffee by donation. A local taxi serves the airport, and a self-serve vehicle is available for use by donation. No scheduled airline service is confirmed by the airport, so check with carriers before travel.
